COMMENTS Name: Friends of Missy | We are pledging $100 and a free website to anyone who wants to run against Narvaiz on a platform of cleaning up the obviously troubled San Marcos Police Department. We feel that Stephens and Williams are the tip of a nasty iceberg and that Narvaiz lacks the will and the intelligence to deal with the problem.

Maybe these petitions have an impact on those we seek to influence and maybe they don't. They are, however, an exercise in Freedom of Speech and serve to reassure those whose expectations are not being met that they are not alone in their disappointment.

| Name: Jeff Engler | | I can understand Mr. Gonzales placing his life in danger for his dog. I cannot understand Mr. Gonzales placing the lives of those driving on the interstate in danger because of his dog. The officer was right even if most of the people reading this are against him. |

A public servant must treat citizens with respect at all times. If they can't or won't there are less stressful jobs. |

I'm surprised they aren't attacking the VET that sent them to New Braunfels. And the same people are now making money off their dead dog with TV apperances and will probably try to file against the city, so the tax payer can pay for the easy life. Plus, are we all looking at the same video? The guy looks like he is on crack running around crazy. And wasn't the other officer performing cpr on the dog the whole time. Bottom line- safety is more important than an animal. |
| Name: cm1277 | | I feel really bad for the couple who lost their dog. The officer was insensitive and disrespectful. However, watching the video and seeing the man's behavior, he is lucky he was not subdued or worse. If this had happened in Houston or Dallas and not a college city, that would have been the case. |

Did the cop need to treat him that way? No.
I suspect Officer Stephens would have been condescending and power trippy even if there wasn't a dying pet in the car.
Does he need to lose his job? No.
Does he need some serious lessons in compassion and how to treat people? YES! |
