Proposition 5 must be voted down. One of first things Mayor Narvaiz did was put on the ballot that Mayor be extended to a three year term and that Council get paid. Voters said no to both just a couple years ago. Now the Council has decided to put forth on the ballot a vote on the Proposition to bypass voters and set compensation themselves.

They finally try to create some paying jobs in this town, and you want to stop them.

Last time around, they wanted $100 per meeting or something like that.

If they would eat their own dog food and take $10 per hour ($30-40 per meeting), I might be interested in supporting this.

Something tells me that once they take the decision out of our hands, they'll be getting a lot more than $100 per meeting.

Bear in mind that setting their compensation "in a public forum" does not mean any of us will get to vote. We won't. We'll get to speak up and be ignored during our 3 minute public comment period. That's all.

Vote NO, for sure.
